WordPress blogs are great in some respects but setting one up so that it looks appealing, delivers SEO benefits and gives you the navigation controls you need is a bit taxing because you need to go into all the code. And then it can go horribly wrong.

There’s someone I know who’s been down that route, got fed-up and made all the mistakes you can before eventually ending up with a blog that looks first class. She then did the logical thing: she re-traced her steps and documented what she did to go from horrible to sublime but this time without making all the howlers in the middle.

And it’s now available as an ebook.

Take a look at the site she created and compare it to the standard WordPress theme and you’ll see why this ebook is excellent value if you want your WordPress blog to look professional.

I’m test driving a 3 way linking system for an SEO client. I can’t report the stats. ‘cos they’re confidential BUT I can say that we now have 59 new links to our site after 13 days of the following quality:-

PR4 1
PR3 1
PR2 2
PR1 5
PR0 50

These links are from a mixture of sites but they all contain our most important keywords. The system we’re using is clever - it builds links up steadily from a range of PageRank zero sites up to PageRank 4 or more. You get to choose the text that appears alongside your link as well the link wording itself which is vital. In fact you get to choose 3 different wordings and they are each rotated in a weighted fashion with your first wording being used 60% of the time, your second 30% of the time and your third 10% of the time. You can also change the wording used in your links any time you want.

Linking systems like these cost real money - but then they bring real traffic. The one I’m testing out is looking good and it lets you use the system with 50 different domain names for less than $1 a month each.

Do you think you would get more than $1 worth of value a month from having links like this added to your sites? If so, go here and check out the details.

41 minutes ago I wrote a post about GadgetSpots.

I checked Google 6 minutes later and saw I was on first page - so, in an infinite loopy kind of way - I wrote another post about ranking on the first page in 7 minutes (because it took me a minute to prepare a screen dump).

I posted that - and looked again a bit later on. Now I’m ranking 4th with my first post and 5th with my second post. This is my last post of today but I can’t help wondering what my rank will be tomorrow for GadgetSpots.

btw, in case you’re wondering why this is useful, just imagine a new product launch that everyone is going mad about. If you can rank on the first page of Google superfast, all you need to do is get yourself an affiliate link and write a post and away you go.

One of the factors in my favour is the fact the GadgetSpots are new and so there are not many web pages written about them - yet. But that is the usual situation for most new product launches.
