Finally got round to submitting a new ad to the GadgetSpots network today. My first one was obviously TOO cheeky – I was advertising GadgetSpots within the GadgetSpots widget. A sort of narcissistic, iterative advertising.

Naughty boy.

Actually since I started doing that not only has my original ad been deleted but there’s also an explicit statement on the site telling people that they are not allowed to do this.

So anyway, I created a new ad today spurred on by enthusiastic reviews by various folk I trust online and I’ll be tracking the stats carefully and reporting back.

One of the things you can do with GadgetSpots ads, as you can with any traffic generating system, is to promote something that can make money for you on autopilot so you really need to have either a commercial website of some sort or to have selected a product you can sell as an affiliate. In fact that’s one of the beauties of something like GadgetSpot – you just set it up and use your own ads to drive traffic to a link that can make you money.

IntelliChat Save A Sale agents are cropping up everywhere these days so do they work?

Well people are spending BIG MONEY using IntelliChat precisely because it saves sales that would otherwise be lost and that is where the economics work out.

If someone on your site is going to disappear they’re already about to be worth nothing to you. But if you can capture even a small percentage of that disappearing traffic and recover a sale it’s going to add extra profit to your business. I’m test driving a 3 way linking system for an SEO client. I can’t report the stats. ‘cos they’re confidential BUT I can say that we now have 59 new links to our site after 13 days of the following quality:-

These links are from a mixture of sites but they all contain our most important keywords. The system we’re using is clever – it builds links up steadily from a range of PageRank zero sites up to PageRank 4 or more. You get to choose the text that appears alongside your link as well the link wording itself which is vital. In fact you get to choose 3 different wordings and they are each rotated in a weighted fashion with your first wording being used 60% of the time, your second 30% of the time and your third 10% of the time. You can also change the wording used in your links any time you want.

Linking systems like these cost real money – but then they bring real traffic. The one I’m testing out is looking good and it lets you use the system with 50 different domain names for less than $1 a month each.
